Club Race Training - October League Cork Harbour.

Sovereign Sailing are offering you an ideal opportunity to join our Autumn race training in our 1720 Keelboats.

Each Sunday in October the Royal Cork Yacht Club sets a course around Cork Harbour and it’s outer approaches. This gives challenging and exciting close quarters racing. Tactically the harbour is very interesting both from a tidal point of view and as the wind can be quiet shifty. The courses set ensure that boat handling and crew work along with tactics have to be spot on.

This training series is ideal for those sailors with a little sailing experience but little or no racing experience is required.

Join us for one or multiple weekends, if you sign up for a few weekends we will ensure that you are trained in a different position each weekend and offer you a worthwhile discount.

You will have an experienced professional on board for all racing and training.

Mike Inglis has a massive amount of racing experience at both a professional and amateur level. Mike has raced all shapes and sizes of boats, if it floats he’ll race it! He’s raced in everything from 21ft Minis to 120ft Maxi catamarans.

You are guaranteed top level tuition and above all we aim to have a great laugh while being competitive.

No racing experience necessary.

What’s involved?

Saturdays 09:00 to 13:00 race training
Sundays 09:00 to 16:00 pre-race training followed by 1-2 races per day

We are offering great reductions if you do multiple weekends.

1 weekend 145 euro per person per weekend
2 weekends 136 euro per person per weekend
3 weekends 128 euro per person per weekend

Why not book the boat for your group of friends or work colleagues. Each boat can take a max of 5 crew.

For corporate multiple weekend bookings you can have your companies logo on the boat and sails.

Bespoke Racing Events

Using our identical 1720 racing boats we can design and run a varitey of racing events for your group or company.

The Sovereigns Cup is a fun regatta raced on the famous Cork 1720 sports boats.

Each crew of 5 will participate in a number of league races, from which points will be accumulated. The top crews will then compete head to head in a league final.

Each boat will be helmed by our professional skippers, and at various stages thought out the day the skipper will deliver specialist training. Your racing league will also require crews to rotate between the racing boats and the mother ship to get a well earned break and keep track of the opposition.

Expect competition to be fierce! Once your out on the water, with the wind in your hair, everyone’s competitive spirit emerges…even those you lease expect!

Each racing yacht can take a maximum of 5 crew and through rotating on the mother ship we can cater for a group of 20.

If you have a larger group we can also draft in our 40 foot yachts to compete in the Sovereign Cup regatta.
