Sailing: The Wild Atlantic Way
Setting sail from Kinsale in Co. Cork, we have just embarked on a seven day sailing adventure, sailing along the coastline of the Wild Atlantic Way, before we reach our final stop at Westport located on the West Coast of Ireland. Read a daily account from our sailing students about their experiences on this amazing sailing trip (and meet some intriguing friends we met along the way!).
SAILING JOURNAL
With a bright and early start, our journey begins at the Trident Marina in Kinsale where we gathered to prepare the boat and plot our sailing passage ahead, led by skipper James Lyons (Principal of Sovereign Sailing). Accompanying us on the sailing trip are a group of GMIT students who are learning to sail whilst developing their sailing skills, as each team member takes on different roles as part of the yacht crew.
Each day we'll be posting a daily journal of the sailing trip, written by the students themselves who are aboard the yacht as part of the crew. So please bear with us if you're following this at the time of writing, as it's not such an easy task to follow whilst out at sea! As well as updating the blog posts on our website that you're reading now, we're also going to be sending out as much information as we can to keep you updated on our social channels, so just visit our Twitter & Facebook pages.
And just to give you a little taster of what to expect, here's some friends that joined us as we rounded the Fastnet Rock in West Cork...
