RYA Day Skipper Theory
If you’re new to sailing or power boating then this is the perfect course to learn about navigation. No previous experience or knowledge is needed, and upon completion of the course you will be ideally suited to participate on our Day Skipper practical sailing course (sea based on one of our sailing yachts).
You'll be taught by leading sailing instructors from our base at the Trident Marina in Kinsale, utilising the Trident Hotel's comfortable and state of the art meeting rooms. We use the RYA’s specifically designed chart plotter to blend traditional techniques with electronic navigation. This course is designed to suit those with limited time who would like to complete the course in a matter of weeks, run over 5 Saturdays.
This land based course equips you with the knowledge required to navigate within sight of land by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to introduce you to night sailing.

Includes RYA Student Pack, Navigation Tables, Portland Plotter & Divider. Additional tutorials will be available free of charge at certain stages throughout the course.
