RYA Yachtmaster Theory
Course duration: The course is taught over 5 full days — 40 hours with three exam papers.
This course is ideal for current Day Skippers looking to further develop and expand their skills or for anyone planning to be examined for Coastal or Offshore Yachtmaster certification.
This is an advanced shorebased navigation course which will equip you with the knowledge required to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. Navigation knowledge up to Day Skipper shorebased level is essential prior to joining. Sometime will be spent revising the basics before moving on to advanced navigation techniques.
This course will develop your theory knowledge to the standard required for the Yachtmaster Coastal or Offshore practical exams and is essential for anyone aiming to be examined in the near future. The main focus is advanced navigation and meteorology skills along with an in-depth look at Collision Regulations.
Run over 5 consecutive Sundays, the format while intensive, still allows you to absorb the information between sessions and more importantly, will not drag on for the entire winter.
This course is run from our base in the Trident Hotel Kinsale, utilising the hotels comfortable state of the art meeting rooms.
